***IMPORTANT - UPDATED INFORMATION ON SLL BAT RULES AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE***
GENERAL EQUIPMENT INFORMATION
Scarsdale Little League provides each coach/team with a bag of league-appropriate equipment. Equipment bags are distributed to league coordinators at the beginning of each season and coaches are expected to take good care of equipment which is re-used for a limited number of future seasons. Each bag of equipment includes 4 batting helmets, 3 bases, 1-2 cases of league-appropriate baseballs, first aid kit and plenty of ice packs. Catching equipment also is provided for leagues where players catch.
Ball players are expected to have their own bats, baseball gloves and rubber cleats. Often, catchers find it better to have their own equipment to allow for proper fit. Leg blocks are encouraged for catchers.
Each ball player is provided with a team jersey, Little League patch, pants, hat and socks. Players are expected to wear full uniforms to each game. Scarsdale Little League uses minor league team names, which has been well-received by kids and parents since it was instituted in 2011.
Uniforms are distributed to coaches late March or early April depending the date of Opening Day. Your coach will communicate with you initially and distribute uniforms to ballplayers directly. All players are strongly encouraged to attend and are expected to wear uniforms to the Opening Day Ceremony.
SLL BAT INFORMATION
SLL adopted the USA Baseball standard beginning with the Spring 2019 season. Players can only use bats in SLL play that have the USA Baseball marking. SLL travel team players should consult their coaches and/or parent coordinators regarding bat rules for the travel leagues (e.g. WBAS/RBA and GHVBL).
For those buying a new bat, we would suggest you refer to the bat resources just below.
