2018 Little League Registration Is Open

Spread The Word!

It's time to start thinking about 2018 Spring baseball!  The Scarsdale Little League (SLL) registration system is open for all ages from Kindergarten through 8th grade.  SLL Baseball is the largest recreational program in the Village with nearly 1,000 participants, but we can always use more players.   Please forward this email to all families that are new to our community, especially Kindergarten parents!

*Registration by February 28, 2018 is essential to allow for the formation of balanced teams, the creation of coaching groups, scheduling of fields, and ordering of uniforms.

  • Our Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade leagues are organized by grade, and each team is comprised of children that all attend the same elementary school.

  • For 3rd grade league, each team has players from a mix of all five elementary schools. It has been extremely rare historically; however, there is the possibility that a "baseball" age 9-year old 3rd grader who took part in the Fall Evaluations and received very high marks could be invited to play in the Pacific or Atlantic leagues. Please see the "baseball" age determination information and chart below.

  • For 4th - 8th grades, SLL forms teams by age rather than by grade in order to conform with the rules of Little League International, the governing entity with which SLL is affiliated.  An age-based structure has been demonstrated to be a more successful construct for skill development, competition and safety.

  • Pacific League includes all players of "baseball" ages 9 through 11 who either did not attend the Fall Evaluations or are not invited to play Atlantic. As noted, it is very rare for a 9-year old to play in Pacific.

  • Atlantic League includes players of "baseball" ages 9 through 12 (those who attended the Fall Evaluations and are invited). Please note that all those of “baseball” age 12 are to play in Atlantic (including 7th graders). Since SLL moved to an age-based system, Atlantic has mainly been made up of players with "baseball" ages of 11 and 12. It is rare for a "baseball" ages of 9 and 10 to play in Atlantic.

  • Junior League is comprised of "baseball" ages of 13 and 14.  If you are "baseball" age 12, even in 7th grade, you are to register for Atlantic, not Junior League.

Little League Baseball changed the age calculation date beginning with the 2018 Spring LL Season to 8/31/18 with the exception that children born between 5/1/05 to 8/31/05 will be grandfathered as 12-year olds for the 2018 season.  Scarsdale Little League will be adoption this cutoff for age determination for Pacific, Atlantic and Junior divisions.  As noted above, travel teams in either WBA or GHVBL will be using the prior 4/30/18 cutoff date for Spring 2018 travel seasons.  For more details and the reason for the change, please go to the following link: Little League Age Determination 2018.
